The Current joins radio stations across the Twin Cities in honoring First Avenue at 5 p.m. CDT on April 3 — the club's 50th anniversary — by playing Prince's song "Purple Rain" in unison.

We're thrilled to link arms with our radio colleagues across Minneapolis-St. Paul: Radio K (100.7, 104.5), 101.3 KDWB, 89.9 KMOJ, MyTalk 107.1, Go 95.3 and 96.3, Kool 108, Cities 97, 92 KQRS, KFAN 100.3 and 93X in playing the iconic Prince song. Purple Current, our stream celebrating Prince's musical universe, will also play the song.

Tune in to 89.3 in the Twin Cities, (and our stations across the state) or download The Current's app to stream the song at 5 p.m.

Though Prince cemented the club's fame, it was Joe Cocker who was the first act at the venue on April 3, 1970. The version of "Purple Rain" that was featured in the film of the same name was recorded at the club on August 3, 1983.
