On today’s United States of Americana I featured tons of new music. We’ll discover tracks from Charlie Parr,  Katie Pruitt, The Mavericks, Heather Little & Alejandro Escovedo. There has also Been a handful of big shows were just announced in the last few days. We’ll talk about and hear some of those artists. We’ll remember both Merle Haggard and John Prine. This weekend marks the anniversary of both of these legends. It’s all on this United States of Americana!

We celebrate the final weekend of Women’s History Month with lots of new music from women on this Sunday’s United States of Americana.

On this weeks United States of Americana I’ll feature a couple of new songs from both Waxahatchee & Kacey Musgraves new albums. I have a song from Willie Nelson’s new album, which drops a couple weeks after his 91st birthday!  I also have a new blues tune from Cedric Burnside, another tune from Adrianne Lenker’s upcoming album an update of a song from the 1940’s by Jim Kweskin featuring Maria Muldaur.

On this USofA I’ll feature lots of new sounds from artists like Anders Osborne, Madeleine Peyroux, Jesse Dayton & Alisa Amador. Plus, I have a gorgeous one from brand the brand new Kacey Musgraves album. It’s also St. Patrick’s Day weekend, so I have a few Irish tunes in the mix too. Join me for the rootsier side of the Current!   

In the midst of Womens History Month, I have lots of new music from women on this week’s show. We’ll check out music from this week Louisa Stancioff. The Hawthorns, Rachel Brooke and the new supergroup Wonder Women of Country, featuring Kelly Willis, Brennen Leigh (originally from Moorhead MN) &  Melissa Carper. Join me at 8am this Sunday! I also featured Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives, who are performing in Rochester this Saturday!!

On this USofA I will feature a bunch of brand new tunes from artists like Kelsey Waldon featuring S.G. Goodman, Lawrence Rothman featuring Amanda Shires, local artist Cindy Lawson and Sarah Shook and the Disarmers!  

On this United States of Americana, I’ll feature brand new songs from artists like Rhiannon Giddens, Emily Nenni, Old 97’s, Lindsay Lou and Bonny Light Horseman. Plus, it’s a busy week for concerts! I featured several on the show. Artists like Jess Williamson, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and Cat Power.  

I featured brand new songs from Pokey LaFarge, Secret Sisters, Kacey Musgraves & Kimmi Bitter on this United States of Americana. Plus, we remembered Dex Romweber, who founded Flat Duo Jets back in the 1980’s. He died on Friday at 57. We also remembered Bob Stinson, who passed away 29 years ago today.  

On this United States of Americana, I’ll debut a new song from Adia Victoria, which is featured on a new tribute album called My Black Country: The Songs of Alice Randall. Randall is a black songwriter, who has had quite a bit of success in country music. Her songs have been recorded by people like Trisha Yearwood, Glen Campbell,  and Johnny Cash. I also have new music from local artist Charlie Parr and Adrianne Lenker. I’ll also feature a few Grammy winners!     

On this United States of Americana I featured a couple songs from Buddy Holly and a tune from the Big Bopper, both perished in a plane crash near Clear Lake Iowa. Young singer Ritchie Valens and the planes pilot also died. The crash became known as “the day the music died,” immortalized in song by Don Mclean. I played new songs by Phosphorescent, Alex Jordan, Waxahatchee & we caught a couple tunes from Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, who perform at the Palace on March 2 & 3!
