Coffee Break: String Section
by Jill Riley and Nilufer Arsala
December 17, 2024
Tuesday on the Morning Show, Sarah Hicks from the Minnesota Orchestra joined us to talk music. Hicks is the principal conductor for the Live at Orchestra Hall series, and we talked about some of the upcoming performances at the Hall — including some shows you might not expect like Brahms X Radiohead.
Talking about the fun events the orchestra has on the way got us thinking about how much we love songs that feature an orchestra or string ensemble, and just how much crossover there is between genres. Today, let’s highlight songs that blend the boundaries between classical music and rock music.
Sarah Hicks talks about classical-music mashups with movies, the Beatles and RadioheadSo, for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs that feature an orchestral arrangement would you like to hear?
