Chameleonic Minneapolis singer-songwriter Mark Mallman is back with a new song and music video ahead of Halloween. You can sink your teeth into this exclusive premiere of “Velvet Vampire” below.

"Velvet Vampire is a 1971 cult film directed by Stephanie Rothman,” says Mallman. “I only watch monster movies, and this song is named after that movie. Cult films (or camp etc.) are made by people that aren't interested in the mainstream. Same is true with us indie musicians. Dusty Gannon of Vision Video, who I played bass for last year, put this track on their Goth Halloween Party playlist.”

The narrator in the trailer for this film bills The Velvet Vampire as “A strange triangle of love, and death, and terror.” You’ll get a bit of that in this music video as well.

For additional spooky Mallman, check out the “Seen My Own Ghost” clip from earlier this year. A new Mark Mallman album is coming soon on St. Paul-based Hygh Tension Records.
