On Friday, Aug. 16, many music legends gathered at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis to celebrate the release of Deeper Blues: The Life, Songs, and Salvation of Cornbread Harris by Andrea Swensson, out now on University of Minnesota Press.

The night included a Q&A between Swensson with both Cornbread and Jimmy Jam, interspersed with music by the father-son duo. Before the second set, Senator Amy Klobuchar honored Cornbread, and Patty Peterson presented him with the Minnesota Jazz Legends award.

During the second set, a full band backed Harris and Jam, and Cadillac Kolstad joined in the festivities toward the end of the show. Afterwards, Cornbread, Jam, and Swensson signed books and met the audience.
