For this week’s Good News on The Current, we throw it over to The Local Show’s Artist of the Month for August, Humbird, who talks about a song that brought a positive difference to her life.

Story: Introducing Good News, a weekly series about music making the world a better place

“Hey, I'm Humbird, and one song that had a huge impact on me growing up was U2's 'Sunday Bloody Sunday.' I first heard the song and didn't even pay that close attention to the lyrics, but loved how there was urgency and dynamics to the way the rock band sounded. But when I looked up the lyrics and realized that they were talking about a very real event that took place during the Irish Troubles and that they were calling for change and singing it in stadiums every night and gathering with people demanding that change, I was so inspired and moved by the way that music can mobilize people and really have a huge impact on people's lives and the way they move through the world.

“So that was a really important song to hear, totally changed the trajectory of my life.”
