According to PBS, the period between the late 1920s and the early 1950s is considered the golden age of radio. Television hadn’t yet been invented, and millions of listeners tuned in for comedies, dramas, variety shows, game shows, and to hear the music of the day. This golden age brought with it a bunch of radio stations including WGY from Schenectady, New York.

WGY was one of the first stations in the country and the first in the U.S. to begin transmission at an operating power of 50,000 watts. Today marks the anniversary of that first broadcast in 1925, so we thought we would celebrate one of our favorite mediums with music!

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs about radio would you like to hear?
