Last Tuesday, May 7, at a ceremony at the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) in Nashville, the Americana Music Association announced its nominees for the 2024 Americana Honors and Awards. Two singer-songwriters — Sierra Ferrell and Tyler Childers — received extra attention with three nominations each for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year.
Other Album of the Year nominees include Brandy Clark’s self-titled album, produced by Brandi Carlile; Weathervanes by Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit; and Hurray For The Riff Raff’s The Past Is Still Alive, produced by Brad Cook.
Waxahatchee’s “Right Back To It” (feat. MJ Lenderman) was among the Song of the Year nominees, which comes from her Brad Cook-produced album Tigers Blood, resulting in two nominations for Cook. Meanwhile, Brandy Clark’s “Insecurity” is nominated for Song of the Year, giving Clark two nominations overall.
Besides Ferrell and Childers, the other Artist of the Year nominees include Charley Crockett, Noah Kahan, and Allison Russell. (View the full list of 2024 Americana Honors & Awards nominees.) Let’s celebrate these nominations with music.
