Earlier this morning, Jill Riley spoke to Kevin Cole, a longtime host and programmer at KEXP in Seattle — but before he was part of that vital Seattle radio station, Cole was one of the founders of Revolution Radio, aka REV105, a groundbreaking modern-rock radio station that aired in the Twin Cities from May 1, 1994, to March 11, 1997. In its short life, REV105 had a profound effect on music tastes and on the music scene in the Twin Cities, and in many ways, it helped form the blueprint for when the The Current launched in 2005.
Kevin Cole reflects on the launch and legacy of REV105Because today marks the 30th anniversary of REV105’s broadcast premiere, let’s honor that legendary radio station by hearing some of the artists who were heard on REV105 during its nearly three-year run.
So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs once heard on REV105 would you like to hear?
