St. Michael-Albertville High School (STMA) is located in Wright County, Minnesota, northwest of the Twin Cities. Earlier this month, 38 students from the school’s robotics team traveled to Houston, Texas, to compete in the 2024 FIRST® Championship. FIRST — the initials of global nonprofit For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology — is an organization that “prepares young people for the future through a suite of inclusive, team-based robotics programs for ages 4-18.”

This year’s championship brought robotics teams from more than 50 countries to Houston — and the kids from St. Michael-Albertville took fifth place in their division, finishing ahead of 70 other teams. STMA Schools Superintendent Ann-Marie Foucault said, “They really made us proud, and we are so happy for them.”

It’s a big accomplishment for these young Minnesotans, and it’s worth celebrating the way we know how: with music.
