Album of the Week: Khruangbin, 'A La Sala'

The Album of The Week is Khruangbin’s latest, A La Sala.
“A La Sala” - Spanish for “to the living room” and title of album – was inspired by a phrase bassist Laura Lee used to say as a kid to bring her family together. It represents the feeling they had while recording together – just the three of them – no collaborators. Their fourth album is the Texas trio’s most stripped-down since their debut in 2015. This time the band dials back the vocals and puts the focus on the laid-back instrumental grooves that put them on the map.
A La Sala combines Khruangbin’s world music influences into a soulful album that sounds fresh and distinctive - while once again showing that they are masters at setting a vibe.
Khruangbin’s A La Sala is The Current’s Album of The week.
