Monday, April 15, is the filing deadline for U.S. income taxes. As of last Thursday, NPR reported that about two-thirds of taxpayers had already filed their returns, and 68 percent of those people got refunds. NPR also reported the average refund so far in 2024 is $3050 — 4.8 percent higher than last year.

Whether you’ve already filed your taxes, are finishing them today, or will be asking for an extension, there are a number of songs that reference taxes. As one of life’s necessary inevitabilities, it’s no wonder taxes have made their way into song lyrics.

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs that make reference to taxes or money do you want to hear?
