Album of the Week: Royel Otis, 'PRATTS & PAIN'
April 15, 2024
The Album of the Week is PRATTS & PAIN from Royel Otis. It's the debut record from the Australian guitar pop duo of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic.
PRATTS & PAIN is named for the South London pub the two went to after recording sessions where they wrote many of the album's lyrics. Royel Otis deliver an LP of melodic pop-inspired indie mixed with woozy psych that keeps you on your toes. Royel's breezy vocals combined with Otis' fluid bass grooves gives the album a sense of adventure. This album is tailor made for cool breeze drives, warm summer parties and late night singalongs. PRATTS & PAIN from Royel Otis is The Current's Album of the Week.
