Album of the Week: The Black Keys, 'Ohio Players'
by Shane Kramer
April 08, 2024
The Album of the Week is Ohio Players from Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney of The Black Keys. It's their third album, in as many years and its title is a nod to the Dayton punk band Ohio Players. This album is centered around having fun and letting go of some of the creative control. So the duo enlisted friends including Beck, Alice Cooper, Noel Gallagher and Dan the Automator, with a goal to follow these collaborations wherever they went. In addition to the creative collabs, The Black Keys included a cover of William Bell and Booker T. Jones' "I Forgot to Be Your Lover" that is a gritty Black Keys take on the soul classic. Ohio Players from The Black Beys is The Current's Album of the Week.
