Five years ago, on March 15, 2019, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Danger Mouse released their collaborative album, Lux Prima. The album was hailed as a brilliantly artistic combo of psych rock and trip hop, and by the end of March 2019, Lux Prima topped Billboard’s forward-leaning Tastemaker Albums chart.

Despite the obvious creative chemistry on the album, Lux Prima, marks the only collaboration between Karen O and Danger Mouse to date. But that’s also the beauty of it; the singularity of the collaboration creates a scarcity that heightens our appreciation of it. And that got us thinking about other collaborations that have only happened once (so far), yet produced some memorable work. It could be an entire album like with Danger Mouse and Karen O, or it could be a notable single or EP, maybe even a remarkable live performance that music fans are still talking about.

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs resulting from one-off collaborations do you want to hear?
