On this date in 1984, the Smiths released their debut, self-titled album. The release proved a breakthrough for the Smiths, as it featured such tracks as “What Difference Does It Make?” and “Hand In Glove.”

But the Smiths aren’t the only band to make a splash on their self-titled debut. Artists including the Doors, Vampire Weekend, Elastica, Rage Against the Machine, and Foo Fighters released highly impactful self-titled debuts — along with Weezer, who continued the self-titled trend in such a way that sprinkled their discography with a handful of self-titled albums, effectively resulting in color names for several of their works. Notably, Prince’s self-titled album was not his debut, but his second full-length.

It's a fascinating topic and awesome fodder for conversation; we could go on and on, but we want to hand it over to you.

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs from self-titled debut albums do you want to hear?
