Coffee Break: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees
by Jill Riley
February 15, 2024
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for its class of 2024 on Saturday. To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year, two-thirds of the 15 nominees are on the ballot for the first time: Mariah Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne and Sade. Rounding out the list are Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Jane’s Addiction and A Tribe Called Quest.
More than 1,000 ballots are sent out to artists and other members of the music industry, and in April, the inductees will be announced. The actual induction ceremony will take place at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024 in Cleveland this fall, on a specific date to be determined. But for today, let’s tip our hats to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees.
