On January 30, 1969, the Beatles gave their final live performance when John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, joined by Billy Preston on keys, climbed to the roof of their Apple Corps office on Savile Row in London, where they performed a 42-minute outdoor set until police arrived and asked the band to cut the volume.

Needless to say, for some people walking along Savile Row and neighboring streets in London’s tony Mayfair area, hearing live, blaring music coming from somewhere was probably a bit puzzling. For those who realized what they were hearing, however, it must have been pretty cool.

Naturally, here at The Current, we’re more interested in that latter reaction, and we’re curious about your stories. Have you stumbled upon music in an unexpected location and loved it? Or have you seen live music in a non-traditional venue or unusual setting and come away with great memories? We’d love to hear about it — share your story and the name of the artist and song that takes you to that place.

So for today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that you’ve heard performed live in an unusual or atypical setting?
