Album of the Week: The Vaccines, 'Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations'
January 15, 2024
English indie rock band The Vaccines return with their sixth album Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations, a title and album inspired by Don McLean's American Pie. Frontman Justin Young wrote the record in Los Angeles and his connection with the song inspired him to write an album about the loss of dreams. Young notes that there's a difference between having fun and being happy, and Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations occupies the space between the two. 60's inspired guitar pop filtered through a new wave lens that explores the way real life lets us down no matter what we tell the world on our Instagram stories. The Vaccines' Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations is The Current's Album of the Week.
