One of the bigger, more bizarre news stories emerging in 2024 so far is that of a resident of Herndon, Va., known only by the first name “Kala,” who is evidently constructing a network of tunnels under her home. Alternately known as the “TikTok tunnel girl,” Kala has posted more than 200 videos on TikTok since October 2022, and the videos show Kala performing construction tasks and talking about the engineering challenges that constructing a system of tunnels poses. Note: Do not try this at home; the Town of Herndon has issued a stop work order pending further inspection.
