Coffee Break: Songs in the spirit of “rizz”
by Jill Riley
December 06, 2023
The Oxford University Press named “rizz” its word of the year for 2023. Likely derived from the middle syllable of the word “charisma,” the word “rizz” is often ironically employed to describe a person’s ability to be flirtatious or attractive. It can, however, be used in earnest when describing someone who is naturally charming in an easygoing way — a person with “unspoken rizz.”
The fact that “rizz” is now enshrined as word of the year by the Oxford University Press may mean its days are numbered. But before it lands on the scrapheap of antiquated slang, let’s embrace it for today’s Coffee Break by featuring songs that convey rizz — be it W rizz (winning charisma), L rizz (losing flirtatiousness) or unspoken rizz (attractiveness that needs no label).
For today’s 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs in the spirit of “rizz” do you want to hear?
