Album of the Week: The Rolling Stones, "Hackney Diamonds"

What's the first band that pops into your mind when you think of rock and roll? I'm guessing that The Rolling Stones is there (at least for most people). The band is in a league of their own, outlasting and out rocking everyone else. Their first record in seven years, Hackney Diamonds, is full of the blues rock that you've come to expect from the Stones and full of vigor that you might not from a band that's been at this for sixty-some years.
Even if it wasn't a solid record, it would be worth it to hear the last songs that feature Charlie Watts on drums, "Mess It Up" and "Live by the Sword" - both recorded prior to his death (original bassist Bill Wyman is on those tracks too). Other special friends stop by with features from Elton John, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney.
Hackney Diamonds is an unexpected gem from The Rolling Stones and your album of the week on The Current.
