The Pizza Lucé Block Party is back in a big way

As the familiar sounds of late summer pick up in the August wind, we hear Pizza Lucé humming a familiar tune. As a special gift for the local pizza spot’s 30th anniversary, the Pizza Lucé Block Party is heading Back to the Block after a four-year hiatus.
The party had been rocking since the restaurant’s 10th anniversary in 2003, when they closed down the block at the corner of Lyndale Avenue and 32nd Street near their location in south Minneapolis. In 2013, the block party relocated to the Warehouse District location where they have hosted Charlie Parr, Lizzo, Poliça, and Motion City Soundtrack in years past.
The block will fill with a stock of activities for all interests. Shred a skate ramp with Midwest Skateboard Alliance, watch a live wrestling match, unwind at the Foundry Nation’s THC Bean Bag Lounge, and get live screen-printed merch from women-owned and -run studio, Night Swim. But most of all, with music at the DNA of Pizza Lucé, they promise a big show with an impressive lineup. Sean Anonymous and DJ Dimitry Killstorm host the evening – introducing eight Minnesota music acts, including Sudan-born St. Paul rapper Dua Saleh, indie rock trio Bad Bad Hats, and legendary Prince-formed band Morris Day and the Time.
The block party’s full lineup and schedule is as follows:
2 p.m. Doors open
2:15 p.m. Supportive Parents
3 p.m. Obi Original: Ozone Creations
4 p.m. Graveyard Club
5 p.m. Bad Bad Hats
6 p.m. The Cactus Blossoms
