This week, we’ve got brand-new songs from The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and a collaboration between Moby and Serpentwithfeet. Plus, discover the sounds of Danielle Ponder, Beach Weather and Minnesota artist BdotCroc.

The Killers, “Boy”

The Killers are touring this fall and decided to release a song that didn’t have a record to call home. "Boy" pre-dates their latest album, Pressure Machine, and inspired the direction of that album. Brandon Flowers explained the inspiration: “I had recently moved back to Utah and started to make trips to Nephi, where I grew up. I found that the place I had wanted to get away from so desperately at 16 was now a place that I couldn’t stop returning to.”

Moby and Serpentwithfeet, “On Air”

Moby recently started his own label, Always Centered at Night, and has released his second track on the label — a collaboration with Serpentwithfeet, "On Air." It’s a gorgeous track that follows Serpentwithfeet with handclaps in a dreamy, atmospheric haze.

Beach Weather, “Sex, Drugs, Etc”

A band that is definitely going for a "vibe" with a name like Beach Weather, you pretty much get what's on the tin. "Sex, Drugs, Etc" is a hazy, floating song for sweltering days in the sun (preferably with a body of water nearby). For fans of Glass Animals, you'll dig Beach Weather’s low-key, laid-back heat.

Danielle Ponder, “The Only Way Out”

Danielle Ponder's voice is wise and strong, but speaks to a volume of life lived. The New York singer has a history of resilience; she's spent years as a public defender and as a diversity, equity and inclusion officer. She's spreading the same support and trying to raise you up with her voice, only now the comfort is in the form of song.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Burning”

After recently performing new songs at Primavera Festival, we finally have the official version of "Burning" from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. After nine years of waiting, Karen O and the crew are gearing up to release Cool It Down this fall. "Burning" is a piano-based tune that feels simple, with flirting flares of synth and heart-beating thrums of drums. The intensity keeps building to guitar solos and shrieking strings for a ferocious return from the band.

BdotCroc, “Love Is”

BdotCroc is someone whose career, along with her songs, are in a slow simmer. The music starts subtly and leads into emotional tracks that get under your skin and stick. BdotCroc is a conduit for stories of heartache, and in her new song, “Love Is,” she tells of struggles of a relationship outside of the public eye. Her work is vulnerable and immediate, with the shine and sudden prickle of pain in life. Above all, it’s honest and genuine — everything laid bare.
