I was on the air on Thursday night and I was just feeling a little low. Maybe it was the subzero temperatures, maybe the toddler that wouldn’t stop screaming, perhaps the anniversary of an insurrection at the Capitol, who’s to say??? I needed a smile. I’ve got a go-to-tune for such an occasion: The Five Stairsteps, “Ooh Child.”

After mentioning it on the air, I got a whole bunch of tips for other smile-on-your-face songs: Heidi in North Mankato: “Fresh Feeling” from Eels; Rita in Minneapolis: “A Change is Gonna Come” from Sam Cooke. That’s just the tip of the iceberg! I didn’t have time to play many of these on Thursday. But tonight we are gonna fix that.
