Hippo Campus, “Semi Pro”

Major League Baseball is on lockout (and it’s the offseason anyway), but fortunately Hippo Campus are here to round the bases with a sweet comeback story in director Phillip Soulliere’s video for their new single “Semi Pro.” The band are heading across the pond in the new year, but they’ll wrap up their tour on April 23 with a show at the Armory supporting their third album, dropping Feb. 4.

Mati, “Sweet Life”

Rising rapper Mati goes for a low ride in a two-wheeler - a bicycle, that is - and cruises Longfellow in search of a vibe in Matthew Hove’s simple and sweet video for slow jam “Sweet Life.” Check your surroundings for safety before sinking into this one.

Gully Boys on Left of the Dial Live

Since emerging artist platform Left of the Dial is named after a Replacements song, it’s only apt that they would book Minneapolis rockers Gully Boys for a tight 26-minute session in their space-age studio. If you like what you hear, you can pick up the whole set on Bandcamp. You also have three more opportunities to see the band live this month as their 7th St Entry Sunday night residency continues.

Maya Lucia, “ur ruining it!”

Minnesota indie rocker Maya Lucia has been out east for a minute, but she’s back in the Gopher State now, making a detour to play a little love shack with her fun-loving band in Jack Campise’s video for “ur ruining it!” Pink houses, blue Solo cups, and astroturf martinis? It’s an entire vibe.

The Scarlet Goodbye, “Rosary”

Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum, Golden Smog) has formed a new duo with Jeff Arundel, whose many past projects include producing the “Lifescapes” CDs sold at retailers including Best Buy, Target, and Walmart from the ‘90s into the ‘10s. Their band is called the Scarlet Goodbye, and they’re preparing to release their debut album. In the meantime, get a taste of their sound in this lyric video for “Rosary.”
