Who do you consider the Voice of a Generation?
November 20, 2021
I’ve got voices of a generation on the brain. There’s a new, and somewhat controversial, special, Jagged, on Alanis Morissette out from HBO. Plus, Adele just dropped her new release. I’d call Alanis Morissette a voice of Generation X. And while I depleted the MPR Kleenex supply watching Oprah and Adele talk about divorce, it cemented my view that Adele is a generational voice for millennials. But there are so many others for many generations: Chuck D, Prince, Nina Simone, Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, Liz Phair, Carole King.
For tonight’s Radio Free Current, I want to celebrate artists that you consider a voice of a generation. Let me know why, and we’ll celebrate iconic voices. Make your request for this week’s Radio Free Current in the comments below.
You can also join me live on The Current’s Facebook page tonight at 6 Central to leave me a request, hit me up on Twitter at @twinkiejiggles (be sure to tag #RadioFreeCurrent) or you can email me at sean@thecurrent.org. During the program (7 to 11 p.m. Central), you can phone the studio line, 651-989-4893, to tell me your request, or use our request form.
