3121 is Prince's 31st studio album, released on March 21, 2006.
Many consider the album a return to form for Prince. Not only would it become his first number one album since 1989's Batman, 3121 features the signature sounds people have come to love from Prince: irresistibly danceable tunes such as "Fury";
the libidinous grooves on songs like "Black Sweat" and "Incense and Candles"; and the funky jams on the songs "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" and the title track.
Recorded while Prince was living in Los Angeles, 3121 also includes some welcome Latin flavor, including a Spanish language spoken word bridge on "Lolita," and the Spanish-titled track on the Latin-rhythmed "Te Amo Corazon."
One year after the album came out, Prince would release a fragrance called 3121. Although the perfume wasn't a huge hit, the album 3121 bore the sweet smell of success from the outset. It was Prince's first ever album to debut at number one, selling nearly 200,000 copies in its first week. Three months later, it was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
