Coffee Break: State Fair memories
by Jill Riley and Anna Weggel
August 20, 2020
The Minnesota State Fair was supposed to start a week from today, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no fair in the traditional sense this year.
Instead we are wrapping up our final giveaway this morning for the State Fair Food Parade, which starts today and runs Aug. 20-23, 27-30 and Sept. 3-7. It's a meandering drive-thru experience featuring 16 vendors such as Turkey to Go, Tom Thumb Donuts, Fresh French Fries, Mouth Trap Cheese Curds, Que Viet, Pronto Pups, Dairy Bar malts, Cheese On-A-Stick and of course, Sweet Martha's Cookies. Tickets are sold out but Producer Anna will report back (if she's able to breathe) after she attends next week.
Whether you nabbed a car pass or not, let's keep the spirit of the State Fair alive until next year with a 9:30 Coffee Break.
What songs do you want to hear that remind you of the fair?
It could be songs that describe the sights, sounds and smells of the fair, it could be songs ABOUT a fair, it could be songs that you've heard at the fair. We'll take all of your suggestions as we look forward to next year.
