Album of the Week: Run the Jewels, 'RTJ4'

by David Safar
June 08, 2020
Run The Jewel's fourth studio release was shared with fans of schedule in response to the killing of George Floyd and widespread protests across America. To paraphrase their tweet posted shortly before releasing the album, Killer Mike and El-P said, "why wait ... here's something raw to listen to while you deal with it all, we hope it brings you some joy, stay safe and hopeful out there."
Ahead of their times at all times, Run The Jewels deliver anthems for 2020 filled with hair raising passages and an allstar list of collaborators from 2 Chainz, Pharrell Williams, Zack De La Rocha and Mavis Staples. It's the soundtrack to now and I hope you listen.
