Live Virtual Session: Yam Haus at Sounds Like Home
by Jill Riley
May 29, 2020
Over the weekend of May 15-17, The Current hosted Sounds Like Home: a virtual festival of Minnesota music. You can find all the performances archived on The Current's Facebook page, and we're also sharing the archived sessions one by one on YouTube. Thanks to the Minnesota Legacy Amendment Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, which allowed us to compensate artists for their performances.
Yam Haus comprise Lars Pruitt (vocals), Jake Felstow (drums), Zach Beinlich (bass), and Seth Blum (guitar). Since their formation in 2017, they have quickly made a name for themselves as one of Minneapolis's premier pop rock bands. With their clean production and tight, classic pop hooks, their mainstream sound stands out in the largely indie-dominated Twin Cities music scene. They released their first single, "West Coast," back in April 2018, which was streamed 100,000 times within its first week. They released their debut album, Stargazer, in 2018, and have since gone on to release multiple singles this past year.
Yam Haus have found themselves selling out shows across the Midwest, and they have been included on lineups such as First Avenue's Best New Bands of 2018; and the 2019 Basilica Block Party, where they played alongside artists such as Kacey Musgraves, Semisonic, and the Jayhawks. Yam Haus also sold out their headlining show at First Avenue in December of 2019 and are now scheduled to headline the Palace Theatre this December.
