As we all try to figure out how to face this global tragedy with COVID-19 it's inspiring to hear Glass Animals, at the top for the first time this week, do a session and give us insight in how Joe Steward their drummer came back from a horrific personal tragedy while riding a bike in Dublin.
'The New Abnormal' is the title of The Strokes first album in nine years, it is due to be released April 10th and is one of those titles or song lyrics that seem to be predicting what is happening?! They are at Number Two and opened up to the NME last week about their dysfunctional past.
Number Three is Car Seat Headrest with the first song released from their new album coming May 1st. They just dropped the all important track seven to Spotify at the weekend.
Sean McPherson co-host of 'The Message' on Wednesday nights which focuses on hip hop and R'n'B did the Album of the Week blurb this week and concluded that the surprise release '3.15.20' sees Danny Glover aka Childish Gambino, "...seem comfortable to go in any direction he wants." He's the highest new entry at six.
One of my fave bands from the late seventies The Psychedelic Furs are on the chart for the very first time at Number Seven with the first single they've released in nearly 30 years! The album is also due May 1st.
With her recent pregnancy and on again, off again relationship with Elon Musk, making headlines seems easy for Grimes. Making bonified hits and an actual career in the music business has been tougher, and confusing. The Guardian did a very credible job last month of trying to distill her essence. She's new at eight.
Atmosphere slipped three places this week, but in the Rhymesayers world there was a massive shift, the label's store Fifth Element on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown has closed, officially today, although there's still merch online.
Inducted to the Chart Hall of Fame for the 8th time is Tame Impala putting them at Number Thirteen on the All Time Hall of Fame Chart. They just released an hour long "Imaginary Place Mix" of the entire Slow Rush album. Apparently it's like you're hearing it from the bathroom at a house party, or maybe from your neighbors in isolation?!
Speaking of isolation, The Grammys are opening their archives of live performances that have been included on our Virtual Gig List and they also have a brand new interview with Josh Evans the man who produced Gigaton the new Pearl Jam album that came out last week and they're brand new in the basement space.
Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win a 2018 Detroit Bikes New Belgium cruiser bicycle. Don't see your picks? We've got a write-in slot just for you.
