Pete Yorn plays an acoustic set in The Current studio

November 23, 2019
For his latest album, Caretakers, Pete Yorn says he took a kind of throwback approach by meeting a new collaborator by chance. "I stumbled onto a really talented person," Yorn explains. "This Jackson Phillips right here."
With a show that night at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, Yorn and Phillips visited The Current studio for an acoustic session hosted by Bill DeVille.
Yorn recalls he and Phillips initially met at a birthday party and reconnected four months later. "We just kind of hit it off," Yorn explains. "I went over to his house out in Silver Lake, California, and we just talked about making some music. Very low key. I hadn't planned on making a record … We just started recording songs very naturally.
"It was a good flow with Jackson right off the bat," Yorn continues. "He's very easy to work with."
During the session, Yorn and Phillips play a couple songs from the new album, as well as a track from Yorn's debut, Musicforthemorningafter. Use the audio player above to listen to the complete session.
