Appropriately enough for Halloween week, we have a new number one that starts, "The root of all evil." And later, talks about "fire and brimstone" and "hellfire"! Sophie Alison AKA Soccer Mommy is evaluating the inherent darkness that lives within us all. We first met her in Reykjavik for last years Iceland Airwaves Festival.

Of Monsters and Men will be back at Iceland Airwaves, the event that helped kick start their career and they're back at #18 this week. Mac DeMarco, Shame, the band who should've played Rock the Garden last year, and local artist Velvet Negroni, at eleven, are some of the other artists who'll be there, and we'll be covering it again November 7 - 9.

Another great week for Angel Olsen, staying at 2 with the title track of her well reviewed new album. Out a couple of weeks ago when it was picked by our friends at Pitchfork along with Wilco and Nick Cave.

Returning after a weeks hiatus, to catch his breath from being our Album of the Week, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in the basement for Halloween, perfect! As mentioned in the Album of the Week review, his 'biggest hit' is theme to Peaky Blinders. They've just announced details of the compilation of covers of the song, "Red Right Hand".

Biggest upward mover this week is Charlie Parr, thirteen to #4. And as I was reminded recently, he's not from Duluth, where he lives now but from the proud music tradition of Austin, MN! He just finished the first leg of his nationwide jaunt in support of his self-titled new album. He's out again next month starting in Chicago Nov 8th and hitting the Cedar Cultural Center on the 21st and 22nd.

Beck is back! Seems like he never quite took time off since his last album, but a new one is on the way next month. Hyperspace, which has a typically trippy Beckian video already.

Meanwhile on regular old TV, Chance was back hosting and skitting and making music on SNL last weekend. He's back too at fourteen.

And if you STILL haven't decided on that Halloween costume, may we suggest, the choice of the stars... Billie Eilish! Up this week to #5 with a theme astute song! We'll play it Thursday night for your soundtrack!

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to Wilco at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, MN on November 23, 2019.
