Aldous Harding performs an acoustic set in The Current studio
by Mark Wheat
October 22, 2019
Aldous Harding — the artistic name used by singer-songwriter Hannah Topp — stopped at The Current, along with her band, to play an acoustic set and to talk with host Mark Wheat.
The songs of Aldous Harding are ethereal and enigmatic, and Topp is content to let the mystery be. "The thing about the songs, though, is that that is all there to be discovered," she says. "I'm not trying to hide anything because the words are those words. I suppose it's a bit like describing a dream to somebody and you're being transparent and you're giving them all the details you can, but there's no way you can step inside somebody's head and experience their melancholy or their nostalgia or those colors or that ominous note. That's all that is; it's no trick. It's just you can't be inside somebody else's head."
