Watch Brittany Howard live in concert at the Palace Theatre
September 19, 2019
Brittany Howard, who releases her debut solo album, Jaime, on Friday, Sept. 20, performs live at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Minn., the day before the album release. The Current provided a live video stream of Brittany Howard in concert, now archived above.
Jaime, named for Howard's late sister whom Howard adored, is a declarative move in the direction Howard sees her career going. "I'm a 30-year-old woman now," she says. "My identity is very clear to me and I don't have to make it clear to anyone else, because I don't think that's important — what anyone else thinks about me, or what box they want to put me in.
"But I will say," Howard continues, "for myself, making this record definitely was just a declaration of who I find myself being."
