Theft of the Dial: I'm With Her
March 08, 2019
I'm With Her — a supergroup comprising artists Aoife O'Donovan, Sarah Jarosz and Sara Watkins — have been making a splash with their captivating acoustic music and powerful vocals ever since they first decided to join forces back in 2014.
When they were in town for a recent show at First Avenue, I'm With Her stopped at The Current to record a special Theft of the Dial for International Women's Day where each band member selected a song they wanted to play.
Aoife O'Donovan: Bonnie Raitt - "That Song About the Midway"
"One of the reasons why I love this song so much is because it's a song by the great Joni Mitchell from an early record of hers, but the Bonnie Raitt recording to me just takes it to a whole new level: incredible vocals, incredible production, and of course, a great song."
Sarah Jarosz: Nancy Griffith - "I Wish It Would Rain"
"I've always loved this song, especially growing up in Texas and being so fond of all the great Texas singer-songwriters there are, especially Nancy. I remember driving around in the car in Wimberley, Texas, my hometown, listening to my mom sing along to this song in particular."
Sara Watkins: Linda Ronstadt - "Tracks of My Tears"
"I love this song. I grew up listening to Linda Ronstadt's Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 in our family car, driving around. And I have such vivid memories of singing super loud, — right along with Linda — as she holds nothing back on this vocal. I love that entire record, but this song in particular is a standout for me."
