Heart Bones perform in The Current studio

"As soon as I saw Sean Tillmann on stage, I was pretty enamored," Sabrina Ellis explains. "I knew that I wanted to collaborate at some point."
Tillman — aka Har Mar Superstar — felt the same way. After Tillmann's and Ellis's respective bands had spent time touring together, the two artists knew their collaboration was inevitable. "Heart Bones is a fully new band that Sabrina and I started," Tillmann says. "It's a duo, but we morphed into eight of us."
On Wednesday, Nov. 21, Heart Bones will play a sold-out show at the Turf Club in St. Paul, Minn., launching a nationwide tour that wraps up on December 29 in Ellis's hometown of Austin, Texas. Just before the tour, Heart Bones stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Mark Wheat.
With only one immediate date in the Twin Cities, it raises the question: will Heart Bones return? "All I can say right now," Tillmann intimates, "is people should prepare themselves for a pretty cool announcement next week."
Listen to the complete session to hear more about Heart Bones, including how Tillmann's and Ellis's mutual fondness for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack helped further their collaboration and inspired the structure of Heart Bones' introductory tour.
