Parquet Courts perform in The Current studio

Parquet Courts dropped their latest album, Wide Awake, on May 18, 2018. The response has been good so far, with Metacritic aggregating an 8.4 review. "I think most people have the right opinion that it's an excellent record," quips Parquet Courts' Andrew Savage. "I think peole are pretty on board with us on that."
In town for a show on Thursday night at the Fine Line in Minneapolis, Parquet Courts — Andrew Savage along with drummer Max Savage, bassist Sean Yeaton and guitarist Austin Brown — stopped at The Current studio for a session hosted by Mark Wheat.
To the band's surprise, they ended up working with producer Danger Mouse on Wide Awake. "It was interesting, a very curious line of events," Brown explains. "We had been working on the record for a while, we were ready to go record it. Danger Mouse contacted us and we got together, hung out with him, talked about what we were trying to do. I think with every new record that we make, we try to do something a little bit different, challenge ourselves, try to get different results. This time is just happened to be a critically acclaimed producer, which could have gone a number of ways, but he was pretty chill about the whole thing, actually; he was just interested in helping us make the best Parquet Courts record, rather than turning it into some sort of Danger Mouse affair."
As their tour continues, Parquet Courts will be in Lawrence, Ks., on Friday, in St. Louis on Saturday, and in Nashville on Sunday.
