The Iceland Airwaves Music Festival is a five-day showcase of new music, both Icelandic and international. Launched in 1999 with an intimate show in Reykjavik, Iceland Airwaves has grown into one of the world's premier music festivals.

In 2017, the festival has expanded into Iceland's second-largest city, Akureyri — and The Current will be there! Join host Mark Wheat on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 2 and 3, as he broadcasts live from the Götubarinn nightclub in Akureyri, bringing you interviews, performances and a few cultural insights as well.

Watch the video above to hear more from Mark and from The Current's Program Director, Jim McGuinn, about the upcoming broadcasts from Iceland Airwaves.
