The Chart Show: St. Vincent's 'Masseduction' has worked!

Annie Clarke's new album Masseduction came out last week and although it's spelt as one word she wants you to know that it's all about, seducing the masses... or is it the masses being seduced?! Either way she seems to be winning, as the second song from it is the highest new entry, after the first was inducted to the Chart Hall of Fame two weeks ago. We just replayed her first in-studio session with us back in 2007 and I'll always remember the Theft of the Dial we did in 2010.
Feist is inducted this week, after spending 10 weeks on the Chart ending at #14. Last time she got into the Hall of Fame was back in 2011. It's good to have her back and her entire Pleasure album is a joy. The singles we have played from it are perhaps the most raucous and 'in ya face'. They are balanced with, "The narrative shadow play and alluringly mysterious delivery that have always been her hallmarks.." As ex-Twin Cities rock writer Jon Dolan suggested in his 3.5 / 5 star review for Rolling Stone.
Portugal. The Man are riding a huge wave of increased visibility since the summer hit "Feel It Still". That song was #1 on our chart for 5 weeks, the most of any of the year. They're back with another track from Woodstock new at #15 and played the massive Austin City Limits Festival at the week, where they discussed their new found fame and the fact that "Feel It Still" was the easiest song they've ever written!
Iron and Wine played a sold out show at The Palace this weekend and they bounce back to #16. Band leader Sam Beam stopped by to do a session with Bill DeVille, where they chatted about recording at Wilco's Loft studio in Chicago.
If, like me, you've had "No Roots" bouncing around your brain as an ear worm for the last few weeks you might like to know that Alice Merton is definitely singing from her heart on the track that has just entered our chart at #20 but has already been a hit in Germany, where she had to re-locate to as a teenager. Schubas in Chicago on Nov 20th is her closest date set as yet.
Beck climbs to #3 this week as his Colors album is finally released and is our Album of the Week. Jill calls it, "layered, complex, with strong hooks and a polished production".
Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile were only just kept out of the top spot by local heroes Hippo Campus. They'll be playing a sold out show next week at The Palace and don't be fashionably late as Courtney's girlfriend Jen Cloher will open the show and we had her "Strong Woman" as a Song of the Day this week.
LCD Soundsystem bounced back up 7 places this week and are poised to be inducted next week. They were the guest on Jimmy Kimmel this week, playing another strong song from the album, "Tonite".
Thanks to everyone who has supported us during the Member Drive, take advantage of all the thank you gifts, if you haven't already because some of them will disappear at 7pm Thursday!
