Iron & Wine perform in The Current's studio
by Bill DeVille and Cecilia Johnson
October 16, 2017
Iron & Wine make music to curl up to. Whether you have a book, a blanket, or a beloved, try to get cozy while enjoying Beast Epic, Sam Beam's sixth original album under the moniker -- or let the music take you there itself. In The Current's studio ahead of their Palace gig, Iron & Wine certainly set a warm mood. They performed "Call It Dreaming," "About A Bruise," and "Thomas County Law" from Beast Epic, and Beam talked with Bill DeVille about reading your own press, re-learning lessons, and recording at Wilco's Loft studio.
The last time Beam played an Iron & Wine show in town, he opened for Brandi Carlile, who encouraged the crowd to "remember a beautiful day in August when we sang this song together." A similar benediction feels appropriate this season; on those gray days when darkness takes hold too early, revisit this session for music and banter. Hold tight to these songs as winter rolls around.
