Working at The Current I often get asked about new music. What's the future of music? What new trends are out there? Sometimes it feels like a really hard question to answer. But if there is a band that exemplifies the future of music making, maybe it's Superorganism.
The band found its start in online music forums. Eight music fans and musicians from across the world started a digital conversation and friendship that turned into a band. A couple of beat makers from New Zealand, some musicians from London, and a 17-year-old singer/songwriter from Maine. But, for a band separated by vast bodies of water, the sound is tight and cohesive. In fact, in its early mystery days people though it was perhaps a side project from Tame Impala's Kevin Parker or even a Gorillaz outtake.
The sound is trippy, loopy, and totally new. It's an immediate earworm and the band has gained a huge digital following - including fans like Frank Ocean and Ezra Koenig (from Vampire Weekend). Get lost in the futuristic jam of Superorgamism "Something For Your M.I.N.D".
