Neo-soul band Nooky Jones -- whose members include vocalist Cameron Kinghorn, drummer Reid Kennedy, trumpeter Adam Meckler, trombonist Scott Agster, keyboardist Kevin Gastonguay, and bassist Andrew Foreman -- have been playing shows around the Twin Cities for about three years. But this summer, they'll release their first-ever studio album, and they're so glad they waited. To hear Kinghorn talk about making the album, covering "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore" at First Avenue the day Prince died, spending time with Sonny Knight and much more, use the audio player above.

Nooky Jones perform at Icehouse on Friday, June 30 (with Aby Wolf, Eric Mayson, and DJ Sean McPherson) and Saturday, July 1 (with PHO and DJ Sarah White).
