Hamilton, the Broadway musical Michelle Obama calls "the best piece of art in any form that I have ever seen in my life," is coming to Minneapolis. We just have to wait a couple of years.
Producer Jeffrey Seller and the Hennepin Theatre Trust — the nonprofit organization that manages the Orpheum Theatre and three other downtown venues — announced today that the national tour of Hamilton will come to Minneapolis at some point in the 2018-19 season.
As other presenters across the country have done, the Hennepin Theatre Trust is announcing the landing of Hamilton early in hopes of convincing fans to sign up for season ticket subscriptions to guarantee they'll get tickets.
"The best way to guarantee seats to Hamilton," writes the organization in a press release, "is to purchase a season subscription for the 2017-2018 Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin Season when it is announced next month. Those subscribers who renew their subscription for the 2018-2019 season will be able to guarantee their seats for the premiere Minneapolis engagement of Hamilton before tickets become available to the general public."
The Hennepin Theatre Trust is also encouraging fans to sign up for e-mail notifications to be keep in the loop about Hamilton and other productions.
