It seems hard to believe Mandolin Orange could improve their already nearly perfect sound. Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz have developed an intimate musical relationship over the past several years and have an identifiable sound, but with their latest recording, Blindfaller, they've added a few more musicians to the mix. Even though it's a thicker musical sound, it's still Mandolin Orange.

Blindfaller is the North Carolina duo's fifth album in eight years, and Andrew said it was time for more people in the studio and on stage — and that "it felt right" with this particular group of musicians.

Marlin and Franz and their longtime musical companion Josh Oliver stopped by the Radio Heartland studio during their tour, along with the rest of the band. They talked about the new recording and performed some songs from the album.
