DJ Pick of the Week: Mary Lucia, The Orwells, 'They Put a Body in the Bayou'
by Mary Lucia
November 28, 2016
The Orwells formed in high school in a western suburb of Chicago. Twin brothers and cousins comprise the band.
In 2014, The Orwells released their album Disgraceland, which included the rowdy, rockin' single, "Who Needs You." I promise you, if you have five minutes, you won't be disappointed if you watch their performance of that song on Letterman — I'd never seen this happen before, but both David Letterman and Paul Schaffer called for an encore when the Orwells finished. The band were sort of deer-in-the-headlights stunned. What happens next is brilliant …
I knew at that point I would anxiously follow their career.
Their next album, Terrible Human Beings, expected to release in Februrary 2017, is shaping up to be another solid rock 'n' roll album. The single, "They Put a Body in the Bayou," is my pick of the week.
