Friday Five: Crunchy Kids, Mike Dreams, and more new Minnesota music videos
November 18, 2016
Crunchy Kids, "Wrong Medicine"
The kids are back! Eric Mayson, Chance York, Marcus Skallman, and Eric Burton just dropped this trippy video — actually a compilation of still photographs from Peter Jamus — and are drumming up excitement for their opening slot at First Avenue on Jan. 21.
Mike Dreams, "Change Up"
Twin Cities trap sounds good in this Jake Handegard/Morningside Films video by Mike Dreams. Watch for his album Pardon My Vices on Dec. 16.
Destiny Roberts, "Free Your Mind (feat. Nsikak)"
Destiny Roberts kneads together hip-hop and neo-soul in "Free Your Mind."
Massive Amounts of Good, "Chef Lucas"
When 12-year-old Lucas was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, he used his Make-A-Wish opportunity to serve others for free from a food truck. Over a year later, he's now a cancer survivor, and he's started going by Chef Lucas. Non-profit Massive Amounts of Good teamed up with new project ChefLucasFood to create this funky video about his story.
Monkey Warhol, "It's Warhol Actually"
How cool is it to have a fan make a video for your music? Monkey Warhol could tell you. The electronic artist's The Darwin LP compilation has earned him some strong momentum; Braden Howard decided to pay tribute to his work with this video.
