The local council's signed off — now all organizers need is about $120,000 in donations to build a statue of David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust persona. The statue would be built north of London in Aylesbury's Market Square, a location Bowie referenced in the opening lines of the song "Five Years."

As Pitchfork notes, "above its head, organizers intend to install a soundsystem that would play a Bowie song on the hour throughout the daytime and evening."

Props to Janet Reno from an unexpected source

Tributes to the late Janet Reno, U.S. Attorney General during the Bill Clinton administration, have been coming from many people — including none other than her fellow Floridian Luther Campbell, whose rap band 2 Live Crew were notorious for their explicit lyrics in the years leading up to Reno's stint in Washington. "At the height of my fame, Reno was the only state prosecutor who didn't come after 2 Live Crew for singing explicit lyrics when every law enforcement official in the state wanted to throw our asses in jail," wrote Campbell in a post on his website.
