Anyone watching music videos in 1993 remembers the haunting clip from Soul Asylum’s hit "Runaway Train," featuring the faces of actual runaways whose whereabouts were unknown. Now, 23 years later, Mel Magazine asks: what ever happened to those kids?

In at least one case, the video sparked a family reunion: Elizabeth Wiles, a teenager who ran off with an older boyfriend her parents disapproved of, called her mom after seeing her own face on MTV. Many kids, though — including Christopher Kerze of Eagan — remain missing to this day.

Smithsonian to honor OK Go
